The sixth Radiohead album (due out on June 9) is entitled Hail To The Thief. You have no idea how happy that makes me.

Well, maybe some idea. You get the picture, at least.

Right?

I figured out a somewhat graceful solution to my problems with Blogger:

Blogger has been mercilessly eating my posts with no regard whatsoever to my feelings on the subject. That kind of pisses me off.

Peace.

Three Great Lyrics

There's going to be two dates on your tombstone / All your friends will read them / Baby all that's going to matter is that little dash in between them / It's a great big world / Life down here on Earth
-The Fairfield Four
"Life Down Here on Earth"

I feel like a quote out of context / Withholding the rest / So I can be for you what you want to see / I got the gesture and sounds / Got the timing down / It's uncanny / Yeah you'd think it was me

-Ben Folds Five
"Best Imitation of Myself"

Let them know you realize that life goes fast / It's hard to make the good things last / You realize the sun doesn't go down / It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

-The Flaming Lips
"Do You Realize??"

Peace.

Some pro-war crooner sent me a letter saying he wants Steady Records to make him a star. Enclosed were a sample of his lyrics and a resumé --and I use the term loosely-- which included a year of work at Vee Corporation as a 'foam adjuster' and five years of unemployment. I checked the white pages. His name was either

a) unlisted
b) false
or
c) misspelled

And despite it being highly unlikely (The letter was pretty poorly written.), I'm not ruling the latter out. One thing is for sure, though: This man will most definitely receive a response, be it an honest proposition or some sort of backward prank my friends are trying to play on me. I've already begun writing it (Dear Creepy Weird Guy...). We'll see what materializes.

Today I had a dentist appointment. Those are thirty or so minutes that stretch on forever. Yeesh. They had [popular local alternative radio station] on and I was treated to such late-nineties greats as Sex & Candy by Marcy Playground and Shawn Mullins' Lullabye. I tried to sing along but there was some sort of contraption in my mouth. The music made the appointment only slightly less irritating, though because my dental hygienist (Is that what I'm supposed to call her? I don't know her name.) wouldn't stop talking to me about (among other things) her daughter, who was on the front page of the local section of the paper yesterday (Do you get the Saint Paul paper? I actually live in Inver Grove so I don't really know my way around these parts. Oh wow, I am just stabbing the heck out of your gums.).

My Fantasy Baseball Team

At the behest of my readers (Jacob, Joe, The Cheat, etc.), I have decided, at last, to update. Uh...

I don't remember what happened before Friday morning. I woke up early to go to Arden (fucking) Hills to pass my road test. I did. Then Mom and I had breakfast at Key's. Then I went home and slept. Then I watched some Lock, some Stock, and Two or so Smoking Barrels. I didn't finish it. Chris and I went to The Spurs concert (Look Down minus Matt plus Ben or DRJ plus Jacob and Peter). They opened for Heiruspecs at The Quest. It was rad. Really rad. The absence of drums threw me off a little, but the presence of Ben's sax made their shit magical. It was fucking brilliant. Heiruspecs were all right in that they didn't particularly suck and that they were far beyond 'satisfactory.'

Leaving the concert, I noticed an orange ticket on Chris' window. Then I looked at his wheels. He got the boot. It was pretty hilarious in that I would have been pretty pissed off it it had happened to me (especially because I had just gotten my license slightly over 12 hours earlier), but because it happened to Chris --and not me-- and he didn't seem overtly upset about it, I didn't feel too bad about laughing... really hard.

I drove to Joe (S)'s house where he was celebrating his 18th birthday with some sort of feast. Then Ben and I came home and watched Pitch Black and fell asleep.

On Saturday I found out Joe made out with Julie. I don't feel bad about writing about it because now they're going out. Yeah. Out. Weird, huh? A whole mess of people (John, Julie, Jessie, Joe, Anna, Ben and The Cheat) came over and we watched The Godfather.

Sunday wasn't too spectacular. There was a The Geoff sighting at Eclipse. It made my day.

There. It may well be one of the crappiest pieces of literature in recent history, but it is about as good a summation of the past few days as you could ask for... from me.

Peace.

The Martin Devaney show was rad. It was cool because we ran into him when we got there. I really love going to shows where the act knows my name. I got to introduce Martin to Anna. I felt really important.

Sunday I didn't do anything. Monday I stayed home sick from school and watched The Godfather Part III, which, I found, is only bad compared to (and just about as long as) the other two.

I was still sick today, but went to school regardless. My legs hurt because I slept on John's couch, but I'm not complaining because I do too damned much of that on here.

After fifth hour, John and I went to Target to get a copy of The Ring on DVD. Cale jumped on the back of John's car. John sped up. Cale held on. I laughed. He could have died, which I usually find pretty funny.

Rehearsal was fun. I'm going to see Narc for a buck with Joe and Tom tonight. We'll see who else shows up.

Peace.

March 1, 2003

Yesterday I came home from school around 1:30 to Al walking up the road from a day of not going to class. We hung out for a while, then he bought me a ticket to Old School, which was really rad of him. The movie was funny. Damn funny. I laughed. A lot. My sides hurt now, but that might be because I have a mild flu, which makes everything sore, and sucks.

I laid around today and didn't do much except watch The Godfather Part II, which is a really long movie. I feel a lot better now, though, so Anna and I are headed to the Martin Devaney show tonight at Eclipse. Sweet.

Peace.
