February 26, 2003

Today was a half day, which means the day seems just as long (actually was, moreso than yesterday), but you have a shitload more time on your hands afterward with which you have no idea what to do.

Me, I went to John's house, ate raw cookie dough, watched Kung Pow (meh) and played Jenga with Anna, Geoff, Jacob, Jessie, John, Joe, Julie, Nadia and Pavel (Alphabetical). After about five or so hours of that, those remaining went to Eclipse, where old man Furth had just unveiled the new arcade on the basement level of his store. It's pretty sweet. We hung out there for a solid two hours, then went to Wendy's, then Almost Woodbury to drop off Anna. I came home and listened to my brother scratch out "Brain Stew" on his guitar. He's rapidly getting better at it. I'm actually pretty envious.

It was a pretty sweet day, and, as both Kelsey and Joe have convinced me, not a 'waste.'

Now I'm going to go record my lines for Tartuffe and play them back to memorize them. I saw John Malkovich do it in Being John Malkovich, and I always thought it was a good idea. I just needed to convince some foolish directors into thinking I could act before I had enough lines to have to memorize so as to require employing such a method. Blah. There's a mouthful.

Peace.

It's cool that Norah Jones won Grammies, but eight of them?!? I think that's a little over the top, especially when the possibility looms that she could be nothing more than another Alicia (...Keys,who fell off the face of the planet, much like the Silverstone variety... ZING!).

I left school today after fifh hour, went to John's house, ate a large (LARGE) bowl of Cinnamon Toast Crunch, took a nap, came home, watched Deliverance with Joe, and now it's 10:46P. What a waste.

I stole John's copy of (James Taylor's) October Road. It's really good. I hear the Foo Fighters album is pretty sweet, too.

Peace.

February 22, 2003

Oh man. Today was the most disappointing Saturday I have ever experienced. It makes me really sad to know that, today, I accomplished absolutely nothing.

I woke up too early. Having been awoken several times during the night from my neighbor's loud party next door -- which, in retrospect, I probably should have been at instead of sleeping -- 10:30A seemed all the more early. I decided to take a long shower which made me instantaneously tired again. I fell asleep watching Noises Off!, a great movie, then woke up around 4:00P. I went with my dad to Best Buy, thinking that if nothing else, I needed to get out. Returning home, my dad decided that we wouldn't go to the concert out at Anna's. Crestfallen, I went home and wept (Not really, but I felt awful. I was really looking forward to it.). Instead we ended up at Champp's, watching the America's Cup. Now, because of the aforementioned nap, albeit pretty sweet, I am not tired in the least, leaving me only to lament on how much today sucked.

I also didn't pass my road test on Thursday. The guy administering it was a turd. He'd tell you otherwise, but he totally tricked me after telling me he wouldn't. Maybe I should kick his ass.

Fuck!

February 18, 2003

The Joe Millionaire quasi-finale was pretty sweet, and aside from SnoDaze (aka Winter Formal) and perhaps Dragnet, which I've yet to finish watching, the best part of the long weekend. I'm pretty pleased that the dude, an obvious "dunderhead" or "doofus," picked Zora, because that other chick was a tramp and she wouldn't shut up.

SnoDaze, however, was the absolute highlight of my weekend. And now that I realize that I need to be more careful about what I write on here, I'll spare you the disjointed gushings of a middle school crush (Re: 9 February) and leave it at "I had a great time."

Because I did.

Really.

I mean I don't want you to think I was being sarcastic or facetious or a liar or anything because I really did have a great time.

Maybe the quotation marks threw you off, but honestly, I was being one hundred percent sincere.

Seriously.

Peace.

February 13, 2003

I went snow-tubing today. The highlight may have been when I flew about fifteen feet upon ramming into John and Anthony at the bottom of the hill. I'd decided it might be a good idea to stand up on my tube. It wasn't. The wind was knocked out of me for a solid two minutes.

Also...
While flying down the hill with thirteen people on four tubes I got kicked in the head.

And...
There was the time when my legs got clipped out from under me by someone. I don't know who. It hurt.

It was pretty rad. And I don't usually get off on doing stupid shit like that, but it was still pretty rad. I'm really sore now.

I also finagled a double for the price of a single at the Holiday Inn for Saturday. They have a 24-hour pool. Sweet.

I made this. It's not finished.

Peace.

February 11, 2003

I had been questioning myself as to whether Brenden's name is spelled with an E and an A or if it is with two E's. It's with two E's. I can't believe after going to school with the guy for eight years I spelled his name wrong on three occasions. Thanks to Kasia for the heads up.

The dollar movie thing fell apart. I may still go pay full price (for some reason) to see something else.

Speaking of things that fell apart, I closed The Good Stuff Awards. No one submitted anything. It was a stupid idea.

If you still feel like telling me what's good, e-mail me. I'll probably laugh at you and tell you that you're wrong.

You know... because what you think is good actually is not good.

It's bad.

REALLY bad.

Probably.

So there.

And then I'd go put on some Halen or Poison or Scorpions to alleviate my frustration with your erroneous, ridiculous, but most of all stupid claim that Whitesnake was the best 80's rock band... because it wasn't. I don't know who was, but it certainly wasn't Whitesnake... I mean please. Pfft. Whitesnake.

Fifth hour was the longest class I have ever had to endure, which is kind of funny, seeing as it was the only class I went to today. I went instead to Brenden's senior speech. Not one reference to hockey. Weird. It was all about punk rock. Pretty cool. Afterwards, Brenden, Sarah, Eric, Erin, John and I (number of letters in first name) all went to Davanni's and ate hoagies. It was a pretty good day. And now it sounds like a dollar movie is in order. Sweet.

Peace.

February 10, 2003

I saw Catch Me If You Can today. It was great. For as long as it was, I was pretty entertained throughout. I thought the opening credits were fucking brilliant.

Joe Millionaire was a total tease tonight. The episode was entirely unnecessary. I can't wait 'til next week, though.

I'm going to school late tomorrow so I can go see Brenden's senior speech. It'd better be worth it. I will be tallying all references to hockey. What a cut-up.

Peace.

February 9, 2003

After rehearsal (Was it good for you?) on Friday Anna and I finally got a chance to actually hang out together. John and Chris, who said they'd return shortly, left us to ourselves, which I really didn't mind too much. I don't think she did either. Anna's a really cool girl; definitely an easy person to spend time/get along with. We engaged in the kind of inane, awkward, random discussion that people who don't really know each other generally parttake in. It was cool. I'm not really sure what she thought. Tom, Joe, Ben and Cale all joined us for pizza later.

Over the night, and again... I'm not sure if she'd verify this, things kind of transformed into an impromptu date of sorts. We went (along with the aforementioned, plus many, many others) to the Look Down show at Eclipse, then to John's house to leaf through the three past yearbooks (That Anna appears in only one is somewhat unnerving.). We would go to Perkin's, but not before I allowed Anna to walk to her door by herself. When she was pretty well out of earshot, John and Ben derided me for it. I think they think we were on a date. I still don't know if we were. Maybe I should have asked when I called on Saturday and apologized for what may have been nothing. She said it was "sweet." Maybe she does like me. Besides, the trip from the car to her door was a pretty fair distance, and the return trip, albeit downhill, just as lengthy. I guess I just wasn't up for it. No... No, I'm just an idiot.

I overanalyze things.

Peace.

February 6, 2003

This comment thing is working out a helluva lot better than I had intended. That's pretty rad.

I arrived today at school around 10:00A, presented my sit-com of knowledge for my ToK class, went to journalism. The school paper arrived. In it, my top 25 albums take up a whole page, and my Two Towers review another half of one. I'd post the two of them if I had them with me, and if I wasn't a slacker. But I don't... and I am, so get a copy of The Central High Times and bitch me out.

Tomorrow we have our first rehearsal for Tartuffe, for which I am ultra excited, as I am for the Look Down show tomorrow (If you decided not to click that link, it's at Eclipse Rec... Oh hell! Click the goddamned link!).

John and I are going to see a movie tonight around 10:00P. [Edited at 11:57 - Chicago. It was spectacular; The most entertaining movie I've seen in quite some time.] We'll see how much the late night motivates me to go to school. The double late start may provoke it, but it probably will not.

Peace.

February 5, 2003

Yesterday I found out I got a part in the school's spring play. I'll be playing Tartuffe in Tartuffe. That means it's one of the big roles, which is really rad.

Today John and I left school at 1:00P, went to his house, searched for a phantom paycheck (which I found), went and rented his phly-ass tuxedo for SnoDaze (That's "Winter Formal" for the rest of you), ate some Wendy's and came back to my house. We returned around 4:30. I went to sleep around 5:00, and woke up only moments ago. I have become the epitome of sloth.

Well, see you in hell.

Peace.

February 4, 2003

School was almost entirely bland today, which was a nice change of pace. Usually it just sucks altogether. Instead of ToK, Anna S. and I talked for the better part of second hour in the library. I dig her. She's really cool. From there I went to my graphic arts class. En route, I was stopped by some pint-sized underclassman who pointed at me with two fingers and said in his graveliest, froggiest voice, "Pothead." It made me laugh and the day worthwhile.

When I came home from school today, John and I watched Dragnet, which is awesome, then proceeded to lump in front of the TV until around seven, when Jacob joined us in a trip to Eclipse Records. I bought the Interpol album, and am now convinced that everyone nowadays wants to sound like Television, but, for some reason, cannot. Probably because they don't have Tom Verlaine. Regardless, the songs Obstacle 1 and PDA kick ridiculous amounts of ass, as does most of the rest of the album.

We returned in time for Joe Millionaire (with Arby's). They left, I prepared for bed, early, but was foiled by Joseph who informed me that we were on our way to the Metrodome to goof around on the field from 11-12P, which was pretty damned sweet. We brought the video camera, of course, and are at work on another short for NHS Movie Night. Radical.

Joe informed me, however, that they had finished choosing roles for Tartuffe, a fact that addled my brain for the rest of the night and is the very cause of my current state of awake-ness. I had been under the impression that they would not be finished choosing parts until Tuesday night. I was wrong. I am not sleeping well tonight. Luckily I have a triple late start tomorrow (Tuesday). Sweet.

I'm also up for SnoDaze royalty. What?

Peace.

February 3, 2003

My mom woke me up around 11A and told me two things. One of them was to clean the bathroom. I don't remember what the other one was. I went back to sleep, then woke up around 1P and brushed my teeth...

...with the wrong toothbrush. That sucked. Then I cleaned the bathroom and took a shower in it. It was warm and I didn't feel much like leaving it, but after about 45 minutes the hot water ran out, so, wrinkled and wet, I removed myself from the bathroom to watch Sleepy Hollow, one of five films for seven days for five dollars we rented last night, the others being Boogie Nights, Coyote Ugly, Foreign Legion, and Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

I would postpone its viewing to go to the art museum with Charlie, who informed me we have a paper about said visit due on Tuesday. I didn't know. I've been to photography once since the semester began, which is bad, but I've been pretty busy on the newspaper, which is pretty rad this time around.

For lack of a better segué from that to what I did friday night, we finished the newspaper on Friday. After school I went to callbacks for Tartuffe. They tell me I did well. That sounds promising. After that time-consuming experience, Ben and I - who wouldn't leave each others' side until very early Sunday morning - went to his house, listened to The Coup, DJ Cool, and Dizzy Gillespie, among others. From there, we continued to the bank, where we ran into Joe S., into whom we would run again later, at Eclipse Records, along with about a hundred others at its first legal display of live music. It was rad. I was both quoted and pictured in an article in the Minneapolis newspaper, and have already begun writing for Central's (In hindsight, I could have used that as a segué instead of the poor example at the top of this continually growing paragraph. Oh well. Too late now.). In the midst of Hockey Night's set, lead singer Paul Sprangers invited everyone in the audience to a party at his apartment downtown. I went. It was rad. I woke up there instead of where I'd planned. It was cool.

Peace.
