I'm now living in a Bay State College dorm room on Commonwealth Avenue, and having experienced dorm life for the past two weeks am actually very content. I'm in a single about three times the size of my double in Lyndonville. I'm anticipating a good time.
Leaving Lyndonville was tough, but I'm going to keep in touch with most of the really cool people I met there. When I got picked up from the Institute I was informed that my Grandmother, with whom I'd been staying recently, went in for bypass surgery. She's up and about now and seems to be doing much better. She should be coming to Boston on Wednesday. 'Til then my mother is staying with her. They're both amazing people.
The films look like they should wrap up quite nicely. I'm definitely looking forward to seeing the final product. I'm also looking forward to coming home on August 5.
Peace.

Yesterday we had a day off. We went hiking and bouldering in these really cool caves in Peacham, VT. It was hella fun.

I'm enjoying the hell out of this place. We go to classes for about five hours a day, then we engage in free time, which for me means playing pool. It's great.
I'm missing a lot of things and people. Hell, I don't even know how the Twins are doing. Whatever.
Peace.

I'm planning on writing some kind of essay or short story for this site while in Vermont. If for no other reason than to bring something new to the insipid drivel that this site has become. Anyway, it's a lot easier for me to find inspiration away from home, so I plan on writing a lot during this trip. That means I might finally have interesting things to say in the coming weeks. Wouldn't that be a welcomed change of pace?
I saw Josie & The Pussycats last night. It was great.

Tonigt I went to Pedro the Lion at the CCC. It was an amazing show. Seldom opened impressively, and the dreadful Roadside Monument screamed their way through what seemed like an endless set, but aside from that, the show was quite good. Say what you will about 'Christian Rock,' Pedro the Lion is making great music, and its roots matter not to me. Don't generalize because he plays at Cornerstone or because he released a Tooth & Nail record. The negative connotation that follows 'Christian Rock' around like the shadow of Death does not belong behind Pedro, whose intelligent lyrics should be heard by those who shun the 'genre.'

Tonight I went to go see Blondie. They were alright. Unfortunately, it was an outside show and the way the stage was set up left little to be had in the way of good acoustics and it all ended up sounding pretty nasty. Halfway through the set, however, Chubby Checker joined them on stage for a rendition of the Twist which made me quite happy. I only wish I was old enough to be nostalgic for that kind of music. I'm sure a lot of it is lost on us ignorant teenagers who don't have the benefit of having had such great music to look back on.
Later we made cookies at Sunny's house and watched the Twins' game. We beat the Mariners 7-2. Sexcellent.
Peace.

Do I do anything interesting enough to note in a weblog? Today (yesterday) I woke up somewhere. I don't really recall where. I went home, at some point and watched TV, probably. Then I left and did something else. However, none of that matters, because around six o'clock I had the best meal of the summer (so far). These were leftovers, by the way: Chicken-fried steak. Mashed potatoes. Corn. Greens. I never want another menu that I look at to not have these delicious things on it.
It began (the day before) yesterday when John described to me the dinner he'd eaten that night. I sat there and drooled, as mine was a bowl of 'Frosted Mini-Wheats.' John explained the meal to me with such painstaking detail that I could barely handle it. I was craving some down-home cookin' and I wasn't going to eat another bland meal, be it from the midwest, China or Mexico until I got some. I wanted to savor the glory that is an authentic Texas chicken-fried steak. So I did. And it was the highlight of my day.
I also saw this guy turning left on to Summit from Snelling who appeared to be enjoying the hell out of an ice-cream sandwich. That was pretty cool, too.
Peace.

Look who caved and started using Blogger. I apologize to everyone who doesn't care. It's actually so I can go on this vacation out East and not bring all my goddamned files with me. Wow, it sure makes things no easier than using notepad. Grawr. I don't actually have anything to say.
